How do I get current-year estimates & projections and consumer spending data?
Why does the extent of a drive-time polygon appear to be larger (or smaller) than the distance it takes me to drive in that same amount of time?
Drive time polygons are created automatically by analysing the network of streets and highways around the selected location. All possible routes that can be covered in the specified time are calculated from the expected speeds on each type of road (local streets, arterials or freeways etc.). If a driver encounters stop-lights, takes a route other than the optimum, or drives faster or slower than the assumed speeds – all of which are likely – then the trip time could be substantially different than the estimate. Drive time polygons are best used for qualitative comparisons – they can tell you that one store location is likely to perform better than another – but they cannot predict the number of customers that will actually visit your store.
Why do I get results in my profile reports of all zeroes?
Check to make sure you have the right database set. For instance, the US Census will not provide results for a study area in Canada. You can set the database by selecting Settings and changing the subscription.
When will 2010 US Census data be available in Sitewise?
2010 Census SF1 data is currently available in Sitewise. Unlike the 2000 Census, the 2010 Census does not include income data.
To create reports using 2010 Census data, select Settings and change the database subscription to “2010 Census SF1″.
Is there a way I can view more than one profile at the same time?
Due to the limitations of screen size on a mobile device, this is not an option in Sitewise Mobile. However, our online tool Sitewise Pro offers reports with multiple demographic profiles and the ability to create polygon study areas. Feel free to sign up for a free 30-day trial of PCensus Online. Sitewise Pro works on an iPad and web browsers.
I am using the Android version of Sitewise. Can defined places be searched? Not just drive-times and radii?
Yes, predefined areas like states, cities, postal or zip codes may be looked up for demographics. While in the Sitewise app, press the menu key on your phone and then select the Predefined icon from the context menu. You may type the name of the place or region by typing in its proper name, or even just the initial letters of its proper name. For instance, you can find results for DC by entering “District of Columbia” or “District of” and selecting District of Columbia from the resulting list.
